It is as crucial for men to actively participate in cervical cancer prevention efforts because it is primarily caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), which is sexually transmitted. While women bear the physical burden of the disease, men play a significant role in its transmission. By promoting safe sexual practices, encouraging HPV vaccination for both genders, and supporting regular screenings for cervical cancer, men can contribute to reduce the prevalence of this disease.
Additionally,
men can offer emotional support to their partners who may be undergoing
screenings, treatments, or coping with a diagnosis, thus fostering a more
supportive environment for women's health.
The ICICI Academy for Skills
(Bhilai) in collaboration with the Niramayah Cancer Foundation, is actively
working to create a conducive environment for dialogue and support around
women's health issues, including cervical cancer. Through various initiatives,
such as awareness campaigns, educational workshops, and community outreach
programs, we aim to empower both men and women with knowledge about cervical
cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment options. By engaging men in
these efforts, we foster a sense of shared responsibility and encourage open
discussions about sexual health and cancer prevention within families and
communities.
